Chapter 01
The signs your furnace is asking for help
The heating season in Yakima arrives fast. One week you are running the air conditioner and the next you need a furnace that actually starts. The calls we get in October sound alike. The unit is short cycling, which means it turns on and off too often and works harder on every cycle. Or there is a loud squeal when the fan starts. Or one room heats and the next one does not.
Thermostats cause a good share of it. The thermostat will not click, the screen is dead or unresponsive, the heat comes on and then shuts off before it reaches the temperature you set, or the radiators are cold even though the thermostat is calling for heat. The other usual suspect is the furnace ignitor. If it will not light, or if it is cracked, the ignitor has gone bad.
None of these gets better by waiting. A furnace that short cycles wears itself out, and a bad ignitor leaves you cold on the one night you need it.

We repair and replace furnaces, heat pumps, ductless mini-split systems and thermostats, and we install new heating when a repair no longer makes sense. Mike and the crew work with American Standard, Mitsubishi and Daikin equipment, and the install is sized to the house rather than to whatever is on the truck.
A heat pump heats in winter and cools in summer, so it sits on both sides of our year. Where there are no ducts, a Mitsubishi or Daikin ductless system heats one room or a zone without any ductwork. If we find your unit needs to be replaced, your service call is on us.

Get it looked at before the first cold snap
The best time to find a weak ignitor is a mild afternoon in September, not a freezing night in December. Our Heating Tune-Ups and the HVAC maintenance plan are built for that: $14/month, with semi-annual or annual visits, and Cydni calls you to schedule.

If you are upgrading from baseboard or an electric furnace to a heat pump or mini-split, utility rebates can apply. We partner with Pacific Power and Benton REA, and Chelan County PUD runs its own program, so check with your utility for the current amounts.
