Fire side + cold side · ductless mini-splits

Ductless mini-splits in Yakima, for the rooms the ducts never reached

Mitsubishi and Daikin systems that heat and cool one room, or several, with no ductwork. Built for additions, shops and older Yakima homes on baseboard heat.

Chapter 01

The rooms the ductwork never reached

Most houses in the valley have one. The addition that was never tied into the furnace, the shop out back, the bedroom that never matches the rest of the house, the older place still heated with baseboards and cooled by a window unit in July. Running ducts to those rooms means opening walls and ceilings, and often there is no path for them anyway.

A ductless mini-split skips the ducts. It also suits a tight, efficient house that only needs a small system, where a full central unit would be oversized and waste its capacity. Seasonal Energy Services puts them in across Yakima and the valley for heating and for cooling.

Because every indoor head has its own control, you can zone the house. Keep the office cool while the bedroom stays warm, or the other way around, at the same time. Our installer can set a head in nearly any spot in the room you choose, which leaves the floor and the walls free for living.

One outdoor unit, a head in every room that needs it

Each indoor head holds evaporator coils cooled with refrigerant. Warm room air blows across the coils and gives up its heat, and the refrigerant carries that heat to the outdoor compressor. In winter a heat pump runs the same loop in the other direction, which is why one system can do both jobs.

A central system moves air through long runs of ductwork. A mini-split puts a small unit directly in each room and links it to the outdoor compressor through a line set. The install is much less intrusive, the heads blend in better, and they run much quieter.

We install Mitsubishi and Daikin. Mike and Cydni will talk through which size and how many heads fit your rooms before anything gets scheduled.

Chapter 03

After the install: rebates, filters and a yearly look

Rebates and incentives are available when you upgrade from baseboard heat or an electric furnace. Seasonal Energy Services partners with Pacific Power and Benton REA, and Chelan County PUD runs its own program. Amounts change, so check the utility for what is current.

Keep the filters clean. A clogged filter makes a head work harder and cool or heat less evenly, and it is the easiest maintenance on the whole system. Ask when you call how a ductless system fits into the $14/month maintenance plan, semi-annual or annual.

One customer with several properties had us put mini-splits in all of them. That is the best argument we have for a system that is easy to live with.

“Mike and Cydni are great business owners!! We have multiple properties and ... has installed mini-splits at all of them!! Very reasonable, professional installation and everything works as expected.” Doug Granstrand, Google review.

Commissioning: line set, vacuum, gauges

A mini-split is not finished when the head is on the wall.

Once the line set runs between the indoor head and the outdoor unit, a vacuum pump pulls the air and moisture out of the lines. The gauges show whether the system holds that vacuum before any refrigerant is released. Skip that step and a small leak or a wet line can turn into a service call later.

We install Mitsubishi and Daikin. We are a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor Dealer.
